Hello my name is Carlos Correa. I am an Emmy-nominated, award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience working in print, television and radio.

During my broadcasting career, I have received 10 IBNA journalism awards for breaking/spot news, feature, health, investigative reporting and political coverage. I've also received multiple San Diego Press Club awards, and a national TELLY award.

I love telling stories and interviewing people from all walks of life. I created my podcast "Carlos Tonight" in the fall of 2019. We are set to launch our Fourth season soon. New episodes are available every Wednesday wherever you get your podcasts including YouTube. Thanks for listening/and watching!

In 2022, I began a fun newsletter called "Carlos Tonight Express," available in your inbox every Friday. (Don't forget to sign up!)

TV background

I began working in television in 2002 after a brief stint as a newspaper reporter and columnist. I joined NBC 5 Chicago working as a field producer and assignment desk editor.

In 2003 I transitioned in front of the camera, working as a reporter and anchor for KTVO, the ABC affiliate in Ottumwa, Iowa. In addition to my daily reports, I also moderated political forums, hosted annual holiday parades and the public affairs program "Around the Heartland."

In 2006 I signed with KOLR/KFSX, the CBS and FOX affiliate in Springfield, Missouri where I worked as a reporter/anchor and hosted my own segment called "En Foque Latino." While reporting the news, I also taught a news writing class at Missouri State University and was a frequent guest on Power 96.5 FM, the #1 Music Station.

In 2010 I became a news director/anchor for KRWG, the NPR and PBS affiliate in Las Cruces, New Mexico. There I managed a small news department while creating and producing regular segments "The Music Spotlight," "Nuestra Comunidad," and "iFitness." I filed reports for "Newsmakers" while hosting "Fronteras: A Changing America." I also guest hosted on the radio for NPR's "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered."

In 2013 I joined KERO, the ABC affiliate in Bakersfield, California where I worked as a reporter/anchor covering breaking news, local government and the growing Latino community. I also filled in at the anchor desk and several of my stories were featured on CNN, ABC News, Yahoo News, the Daily News, E!, People Magazine, and the Chew.

In 2015 I moved down south to San Diego, California where I worked as a reporter/anchor for The CW affiliate, XETV covering the military and immigration issues along the U.S./Mexico border. I also filled in at the anchor desk including the lifestyle magazine show "San Diego Living." I also covered Fan Fest at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game and San Diego Comic-Con.

In 2017 I signed with the CBS owned and operated station, KOVR where I worked as a Bureau Chief and Reporter covering crime, local politics and severe weather. Many of my stories went viral and featured on CBS News and other CBS stations across the country. My favorite assignment was covering Hurricane Irma/Maria in Puerto Rico where I was embedded with the United States Air Force via Travis Air Force Base.

In 2019 I took a break from the news business and started working with social media full-time. I joined a local government agency in the DFW area where I manage more than thirty social media channels, help maintain the city's website and continue to be a storyteller.

In 2020 I launched "Carlos Tonight," a biweekly podcast featuring conversations with some of the people I met during my journalism career, my family, and introducing my audience to new people, places and experiences. In 2022, the podcast moved to a weekly format and I also launched a newsletter to accompany the show called "Carlos Tonight Express."
